Detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Thursday evening, less than an hour after regaining his freedom from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), Emefiele was apprehended.
It has come to light that the former governor of the CBN is presently under questioning at the EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.
The EFCC is reportedly investigating Godwin Emefiele for alleged impropriety that occurred during his tenure as the chief of the apex bank.
It is worth noting that the DSS detained Emefiele in June when President Bola Tinubu ordered his immediate suspension from office.
As per the Presidency’s statement, Emefiele was temporarily suspended amidst “continuing investigations into his office and the proposed reforms in the financial sector of the economy.”
