A deceased stowaway was discovered on a KLM Boeing 777 from Lagos

A deceased stowaway was discovered in the wheel well of a Lagos-bound KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Boeing 777.

The aircraft with registration number PH-BQM was unable to explain how the deceased passenger boarded the plane.

However, Vanguard learned that the passenger may have perished of hypothermia.

A spokesperson for the Royal Dutch Marechaussee told reporters, “Sometimes they endure the temperature drop, but most of the time it doesn’t work out. On lengthier flights, temperatures can reach minus fifty degrees, which is lethal.”

In the meantime, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has launched an investigation into the incident to uncover every angle.

Monday, April 17, 2023, according to a statement issued by KLM, a deceased stowaway was discovered in the wheel well of a KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Boeing 777 (registration number PH-BQM).

"A deceased stowaway was discovered this morning in the wheel well of a KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Boeing 777 (registration number PH-BQM).

"The plane took off from Lagos, Nigeria. An investigation has been initiated because it is presently unknown how or when the man was able to board the aircraft.

“The plane took off from Lagos, Nigeria. Unknown at this time is how and when the individual was able to board the aircraft; an investigation has been launched.”
