The Supreme Court of Nigeria confirmed Ademola Adeleke as Governor of Osun State in its decision on Tuesday.
The Independent National Electoral Commission stated that Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party received 403,371 votes to defeat then-incumbent Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, who received 375,027 votes.
However, Oyetola and the APC challenged the election results and proceeded to the tribunal.
The governorship election in the state was conducted on July 16, 2022.
The majority judgement issued by the panel chaired by Justice Tertse Kume on January 27, 2023, overturned Adeleke’s victory and declared Oyetola the winner of the election.
