In the dying seconds of Saturday’s game, Kai Havertz scored the game-winning goal that gave Arsenal a 2-1 victory against Brentford.

But Arsenal’s late winner shot them to the top of the Premier League standings.

Arsenal had a chance to win for the eighth time in a row and briefly take the top spot in the Premier League standings on Sunday when Liverpool and Manchester City squared off at Anfield.

Declan Rice’s header from Ben White’s cross gave Mikel Arteta’s squad an early lead.

But, their lead was fleeting as Yoane Wissa equalized shortly before halftime thanks to an error by goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Arsenal exerted significant pressure in the second half in an attempt to score the winning goal, and Rice nearly did so with a strong effort that struck the crossbar.

With a late header to preserve a thrilling victory for Arsenal, Kai Havertz saved the day as the tension increased and the possibility of losing increased.
