Fabio Carvalho has signed for Brentford for an initial fee of £22.5 million, with an additional £5 million in add-ons.
According to a statement obtained by Sky Sports on Monday, Liverpool will receive a 17.5% sell-on clause as part of the deal for the 21-year-old offensive midfielder.
Carvalho, who had also garnered interest from Southampton and Leicester, has agreed to a five-year contract with Brentford, with an option for an additional year.
“Fabio is a player with many qualities,” Brentford manager Thomas Frank stated on the club’s official website. "He can play any front three or four positions in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 formation. His best position is either No. 10 or coming in from the left.
“Offensively, he has excellent ball skills: he can get past opponents, slide a pass, create opportunities, and finish them. He’s the type of player we don’t have many of in the group, so he’ll bring something special to us.”
Carvalho joined Liverpool for £5 million in 2022, having emerged as one of Fulham’s most promising young graduates.
He scored 12 goals in 44 appearances for the West London club, most of which came in the Championship during their promotion season.
Fulham obtained a 20% sell-on clause as part of the sale, which will be paid from the profits following Carvalho’s move to Brentford.
Carvalho made 21 appearances for Liverpool, scoring three goals.
He impressed on loan at Hull in the second part of last season, netting nine goals in 20 Championship appearances after starting the season at RB Leipzig.
