The Central bank of Nigeria, CBN, has exempted selected government agencies, embassies etc from the cashless policy implementation till March 2020. CBN made this announcement through a circular signed by Sam Okojere, CBN’s director of Payments System Management Department.
The categories of those exempted are
- Revenue generating accounts of local, state and federal governments.
- Embassies, diplomatic missions, multilateral agencies, aid donor agencies in Nigeria, revenue collecting MDAs
- Mobie Money Operators (Float accounts only)
- Microfinance Banks and Primary Mortgage Institutions accounts with DMBs
