Chris Mba, a well-known pop singer, died after a long fight with heart problems.
The singer died on Wednesday at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. He was known in the 1980s for his jerry curl and hits like “Funky Situation,” “Baby Don’t Cry,” “Making My Way,” and “Love Everlasting.”
Michael Odiong, who is in charge of Premier Music, where Chris is signed, posted the news on his Instagram account on Thursday.
He wrote, "PREMIER RECORDS EXPRESSES SADDNESS AT THE DEATH OF ONE OF ITS ARTISTS, CHRIS MBA.
"The people in charge at Premier Records Ltd. are sad about the death of one of their artists, Mr. Chris Mba, who died yesterday, May 3, 2023, after a long fight with heart problems.
"The general manager of the label, Mr. Michael Odiong, said that Chris Mba was full of ability and that he gave pop music an African feel by using local instruments. When he released hits like “Baby Don’t Cry” and “Money” in the late 1980s and early 1990s, he became well-known.
“We’re sorry for the family’s loss and pray that God will give them the strength to deal with it.”
