The number of fatalities from Thursday morning’s train and bus collision in Lagos has risen to six.
At the PWD rail crossing in the Shogunle neighborhood, the bus carrying employees of the Lagos State Government collided with an oncoming train.
According to witnesses, a vehicle traveling from Isolo to Alausa made a wrong turn at the PWD rail crossing in Shogunle and struck a train.
The vehicle was carrying 85 occupants, the majority of whom were civil servants and some dependents. Two of the victims died on the scene, while four died in the hospital.
When he visited the survivors at LASUTH, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu provided an update.The governor announced that there are 42 individuals with moderate injuries, 29 with severe injuries, and eight with mild injuries.
Twenty-five individuals were treated and transferred to Gbagada General Hospital, Agege General Hospital, and the Trauma Centre at the toll gate.
Governor Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State proclaimed three days of bereavement and ordered flags to be flown at half-staff for the duration.
