Delta SDP Governorship Candidate Kenneth Gbagi Passes Away at 62

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Gbagi, the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the March 2023 governorship elections and former Minister of Education.

The family confirmed his death on Saturday in a statement signed by his eldest son, Emuoboh Gbagi.

The statement expresses deep sorrow and appreciation to God as it announces the passing of Olorogun Kenneth Omemavwa Gbagi. He was a beloved father, grandfather, husband, and brother, as well as a former minister of education. Olorogun Kenneth Omemavwa Gbagi departed this life on the 4th of May 2024 at the age of 62.

We find solace in the cherished memories of his life, his accomplishments, and the profound influence he had on the lives of numerous individuals and communities.

Gbagi emerged as the SDP candidate for the governorship position in the recent Delta State election. Unfortunately, he was defeated by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

He previously held the position of Minister of State for Education during the tenure of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
