Prof. Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education, said on Thursday that candidates under the age of 18 will not be admitted to the country’s higher institutions.

Mamman announced the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s 2024 policy meeting.

“JAMB is now notified that there is now a prohibition on underaged students, those under the age of 18, from our higher institutions beginning with 2024 admissions,” Mamman stated.

The minister stated that the Federal Government was considering making 18 years the minimum age for entrance to universities and other tertiary institutions of learning.
