Lagos state election: According to INEC,Babajide Sanwolu won the Gubernatorial Election

Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the March 18, 2023 Lagos State Gubernatorial Election, according to INEC.

The electoral umpire said Mr. Sanwo-Olu, who is running again, got 19 of 20 local governments with 762,134 votes.

Professor Nike Oladiji, the Commission’s Returning Officer, announced the Yaba Office and stated that 7,060,195 people were enrolled to vote and 1,180,620 were accredited.

Oladiji noted that the Governor-elect was closely followed by Labor Party (LP) nominee Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (312,329) and People Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Azeez Adediran (62,449).

She reported 1,155,678 legal votes in Lagos and 17,953 rejected votes, totaling 1,173,631.

After INEC’s announcement, Governor-elect Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the victory shows his administration’s dedication to developing the state.

The Governor-elect pledged to deliver more freedom to state residents at the Government House Marina.

Sanwo-Olu, one of fifteen candidates, praised President Muhammadu Buhari, President-elect Bola Tinubu, and his supporters for ensuring a credible election that returned him to power.

He invited his opponents to join his government in rebuilding the state.
