NiMet forecasts 3-day haziness and thunderstorms from Sunday to Tuesday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) forecasts hazy and thundery weather from Sunday to Tuesday across the country.

NiMet’s weather prediction, announced on Saturday in Abuja, predicted dust haze over the Northern area during the forecast period, with thunderstorms expected in parts of Taraba and Kaduna states during the afternoon and evening.

According to NiMet, a bright atmosphere with patches of clouds is forecast over the North Central, with thunderstorms in Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, and the Federal Capital Territory throughout the afternoon and evening hours.

"Cloudy skies with intervals of sunlight are forecast throughout the inland states and coastal cities of the South, with morning thunderstorms possible in areas of Lagos state.

“Later in the day, thunderstorms are envisaged over parts of Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo, Edo, Abia, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Cross River during the afternoon and evening period,” according to the report.

The agency predicted bright skies and a hazy environment across the Northern region for the forecast period on Monday.

It predicted a sunny atmosphere with patches of clouds across North Central cities throughout the forecast period, with a few thunderstorms possible in Niger, Kwara, Kogi, and Benue.

During the early hours, the agency anticipated a hazy environment with brief periods of sunshine over the South’s inland regions and coastal towns.

NiMet projected thunderstorms in Ondo, Ekiti, Ogun, Osun, Edo, Ebonyi, Abia, Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers later in the day.

Tuesday’s forecast predicts cloudy skies with occasional sunlight in the Northern area, with thunderstorms possible in Gombe, Kebbi, Kaduna, and Taraba during the afternoon and evening.
