NLC declares a national strike over fuel subsidies

The Nigeria Labour Congress, or NLC, announced a statewide strike for the following Wednesday.

This information was revealed by the union at a National Executive Council, or NEC, meeting that was conducted in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

The elimination of fuel subsidies by President Bola Tinubu and the following increase in the price of gasoline at the pump, according to Channels TV, were not unrelated to the meeting.

All of the NLC’s associate union presidents, general secretaries, treasurers, state chairs and secretaries of the NLC state councils, the chair of the NLC youth committee, and members of the National Administrative Council (NAC) make up the NEC.
