Olugbenga 'GB' Agboola, a co-founder of Flutterwave, has joined the Wall Street Journal CEO Council

Olugbenga ‘GB’ Agboola, co-founder and CEO of Flutterwave, has been chosen to join the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) CEO Council.

The 350 CEOs who make up the CEO Council oversee businesses that together employ more than 11 million people, bring in more than $4.48 trillion in yearly sales, and represent 28 nations across a wide range of industries.

Being a member of GB gives you a rare chance to speak with the CEOs of some of the most renowned and powerful firms in the world about emerging markets, payments, and global fintech.

For many companies and financial institutions, like PayPal, Standard Bank, and Google, among others, Gbenga has played a key role in advancing the development of Fintech solutions.

Prior to being acquired by a leading Nigerian bank, the techpreneur’s Fintech firm focused on simpler, non-card methods of making payments.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Wharton School of Management, and the University of Westminster are among GB’s institutions of higher learning.

He was designated the Young Business Leader for 2020 by African Leadership Magazine and honored for leadership and innovation feats by Fortune Magazine’s 40 under 40 lists and Time Magazine’s 2021 Next 100 list.

The CEO of Flutterwave will graduate from Columbia Business School’s esteemed Advanced Management Program in 2023.

President Muhammadu Buhari awarded GB the National Honor of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) in October 2022.

He stated, "It is an honor to join the ranks of WSJ’s distinguished CEO Council, a crucial platform for thought leadership and the exchange of ideas, as Flutterwave continues to develop and deliver payments infrastructure throughout Africa and beyond.

“The work of Flutterwave is a demonstration of the transformative power of financial technology, and I look forward to providing the Council with my perspective as the CEO of the company.”

Other members include Arvind Krishna, CEO of IBM, Börje Ekholm, President and CEO of Ericsson, Allan Thygesen, CEO of Docusign, Todd Boehly, Chairman and CEO of Eldridge, and Group Managing Director and CEO of Zenith Bank, Ebenezer Onyeagwu.

Oneal Bhambani, the chief financial officer of Flutterwave, joined the CFO Network of the Wall Street Journal earlier in 2023.
