Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated on Friday that Poland would officially seek to host the Olympic Games in 2040 or 2044.

"I dedicate this choice to today’s ten, twelve, and fifteen year-olds. “Poland will officially bid to host the Olympic Games,” Tusk told reporters.

“The realistic prospect, given the actions, commitments, and preliminary declarations of the International Olympic Committee, is to talk about 2040 or 2044,” he stated.

This declaration comes after Poland’s conservative president, Andrzej Duda, declared last year that he will submit his country’s candidacy to host the Summer Olympics in 2036.

Poland has never hosted an Olympic Games before.

In 2012, it co-hosted the European Football Championship alongside Ukraine.

It also hosted the European Games in 2023.

Berlin is also planning a bid for the 2040 Olympics.
