On Tuesday, the Ukrainian air force declared the destruction of a Russian fleet ship in the Black Sea, which was believed to be transporting drones intended for Moscow’s conflict with Kyiv.
Air force pilots “destroyed” the colossal Novocherkassk landing ship, according to a service announcement on the Telegram messaging platform.
The message further stated, “There are reports that it carried Shaheds,” which are Iranian incendiary drones that Russia routinely employs against Ukraine.
The military refrained from providing a precise location for the assault; however, air force commandant Mykola Olechtchouk uploaded a video depicting a conflagration at the Russian naval base of Feodosia, situated in the occupied Crimean peninsula on the Black Sea.
The Kremlin-backed leader of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, stated, “An enemy assault was launched in the vicinity of Feodosia.”
“A cordon has been placed around the port area,” he wrote via Telegram.
At present, the explosion has ceased and the fire has been confined to a specific area. Everything pertinent is available on-site. A number of dwellings’ inhabitants will be evacuated.
Ukraine conducts frequent airstrikes in Crimea, with a specific emphasis on targeting the Russian military.
It destroyed the Moskva, the flagship of the Black Sea fleet, in April 2022.
