The federal government has designated Monday, May 29, 2023, a national day off from work for all employees.

Nigerians will be able to commemorate the inauguration of the country’s 16th democratically elected President, the federal government claims.

In a statement on Friday, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Shuiab Belgore, highlighted that the proclamation was made on behalf of the Federal Government by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola.

"The Minister extends congratulations to all Nigerians on this historic occasion and applauds them for their belief in democracy, which was demonstrated in both the national election that resulted in the inauguration of the President and his Deputy and in all other elections around the country.
