President Bola Tinubu has appointed Badamasi Lawal as the new CEO of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).

Halima Shehu, the former NSIPA CEO, was suspended on January 2 for alleged financial misconduct. Dr. Akindele Egbuwalo, the National N-POWER Program Manager, then took over as NC/CEO in an acting capacity while the probe was ongoing.

Seven months later, the President named a significant CEO for the agency, as well as the leaders of other humanitarian organizations.

Ajuri Ngelale, the presidential spokesman, announced the appointment in a statement on Tuesday.

“To facilitate the needed relief to Nigerians and ensure the effectiveness of humanitarian and social development programmes, President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of seven qualified Nigerians to head strategic agencies and programmes under the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development,” the statement said.

According to the announcement, the appointees included Funmilola Olotu, Programme Manager of the National Social Safety-Net Coordinating Office; Aishat Alubankudi, Programme Manager of Grants for Vulnerable Groups; and Princess Aderemi Adebowale, Programme Manager of Home Grown School Feeding.

Others were Abdullahi Alhassan Imam, Programme Manager of the National Cash Transfer Office; Ayuba Gufwan, Executive Secretary of the National Commission for People with Disabilities; and Lami Binta Adamu Bello, Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons.

“The President expects the new heads of these critical agencies and programs to discharge the functions of their offices with the utmost integrity and diligence to ensure that Nigerians, particularly vulnerable groups, are the sole and direct beneficiaries of his administration’s reconfigured welfare programmes,” the presidential spokesman stated.
