Today Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu ordered an immediate review of a proposal to provide N8,000 to 12 million Nigerian households for six months in order to mitigate the impact of the withdrawal of the gasoline subsidy.
In a statement issued by Dele Alake, the President’s Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy, Tinubu also directed that the full spectrum of the federal government’s palliative package be revealed to Nigerians.
“That the N8,000 conditional cash transfer program intended to assist the most vulnerable households be reviewed without delay.”
This is in response to the opposition expressed by Nigerians, the statement reads in part.
It was reported that Tinubu had informed the National Assembly in a request that the Federal Government’s National Safety Net Program will provide for the welfare of impoverished and vulnerable households in the nation.
