One person was killed and two people were injured in an explosion of a gas truck at Ita-Oshin, Abeokuta, on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
Newsmen in Abeokuta were informed of the event on Saturday by Mrs. Florence Okpe, a spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ogun Sector Command.
The FRSC spokesman clarified that there were six persons engaged in the event, of whom one, the motor boy, passed away and two were hurt and taken to the hospital.
Five automobiles in all were involved, she said: a Sino tanker registered T23771 LA, a Micra registered GDB 841 XR, a Honda CRV without a registration number, and two Nissan cars with registration numbers AAN 544 YC and LSD 993 CY.
She continued by saying that before the tanker lost control and struck the road barricade, it had brake failure and burst into flames.
Some of the nearby stores and cars were also burned, she said.
“The location was cordoned off to prevent a subsequent crash, and the fire department was called immediately,” she said.
She said the sad event happened around 4:10 p.m.
